OOC CHATTER POST #14

Welcome to the new home of the OOC chatter post, in our brand new community dedicated to all of your OOC shitposting needs! We're going to start off very rules and moderation lite and see how things go.

1) You can post and comment here with any journal you own, i.e. CDJs, character journals from any game, etc. You don't need to join the comm in order to comment, but you can if you want.

2) We will do our best to continue putting up new chatter posts here whenever the old ones get close to filling up.

3) If for whatever reason, you'd like to make a new post in campers, you can!

And also: Please put a subject line in your comments to help people sort through conversations!

idk why i want to do this to myself. i guess so i have something to do off the computer and to try to get motivated. i feel like some of you here are probably doing something similar and i want all the suggestions on pens and tape and whatever whatever >.< halp

i like the aesthetic of organization a lot, but i'm really bad at it too. i'm not a busy person though, and i probably won't motivate myself at all by using a journal, but... here i am.

I tried bullet journaling for like, 2 weeks, but I'm too fussy and never got past the neurotic setup stage. I kept trashing my progress because it didn't look cute enough.

HOWEVER, I love stationary and pens. Cute stationary/tape/post-its/etc. and a good source of Japanese writing utensils and accessories of all kinds.

This was part of my problem too? Like, if it takes five days to make your title page for the month, there's no point.

bullet journals definitely don't need to be fancy! a lot of people make it fancy but i kept a bullet journal for work and it was definitely still very functional even if it wasn't pretty

i fell out of the habit though because i'm frankly bad at staying on top of todo lists lol it just became a source of anxiety for me

Oh man exactly same. I kept a nonfancy one for months when I started my current job but the anxiety of upkeeping it made me stop.

At my old job, I did a very very basic one I guess, that was almost entirely just a to do list + running notes of stuff I needed to complete those tasks, and it helped me a lot. I don't at this new job, because I just do the same tasks all the time so they're never actually done (upload new youtube videos, don't do a murder, respond to reviews...)

I guess the other thing was that I realized there wasn't a lot of stuff I actually wanted to track in my regular life? I don't plan meals ahead of time, I don't have any interest in a mood tracker, I didn't care about keeping a list of ~wishes~ or ~goals~, etc.

The only thing I took away from looking up bullet point journal ideas is the idea to put a > in a box for when you've moved that task to a new page, so I didn't have to feel like I had to hold on to that to do list until I finished that last task.

I tried this for like a month MAYBE but I ended up hating it. That said, I am terrible about keeping up with any kind of list (ask me how many grocery lists on how many scraps of paper I have, and I still won't take any of them with me) or planners (my elementary school made us use planners and I just stayed in constant trouble for not filling mine out), so I don't know WHY I thought this was an activity for me. Other than it's pretty.

I've considered some day trying to do like a visual journal kinda thing, but that would be journaling after the fact, not trying to keep up with stuff?

lmfao i remember school planners and i also didn't ever use mine. i'm hoping like the making the journal pretty and what not part is what'll keep me interested, but who knows.

I THINK part of what might help, if you really want that pretty aesthetic, is to like... do quick pretty? Like stamps, stickers, washi tape? Because I had it in my head I was going to ~draw~ everything (partially because I am cheap af and didn't want to by supplies more than like pen and markers) and, even when I told myself I was going to keep it simple, it was still taking me way too long to do each page, and I got burned out super fast (and it still didn't even look pretty, so).

i've used one in bursts over the past couple years, i'll take photos of a couple diff pages in case they help but DON'T COUNT ON IT HELPING there's a reason i stopped

One of my favorite stationary stores!!! Their stuff isn't cheap but it's really high quality and really cute?? They sell some of their stuff at Nordstrom now.

I'm torn between LePen and Staedtler as my favorite color pens... I might be a LITTLE more partial to the LePen.
