OOC CHATTER POST #14

Welcome to the new home of the OOC chatter post, in our brand new community dedicated to all of your OOC shitposting needs! We're going to start off very rules and moderation lite and see how things go.

1) You can post and comment here with any journal you own, i.e. CDJs, character journals from any game, etc. You don't need to join the comm in order to comment, but you can if you want.

2) We will do our best to continue putting up new chatter posts here whenever the old ones get close to filling up.

3) If for whatever reason, you'd like to make a new post in [community profile] campers, you can!

And also: Please put a subject line in your comments to help people sort through conversations!

bullet journals definitely don't need to be fancy! a lot of people make it fancy but i kept a bullet journal for work and it was definitely still very functional even if it wasn't pretty

i fell out of the habit though because i'm frankly bad at staying on top of todo lists lol it just became a source of anxiety for me

Oh man exactly same. I kept a nonfancy one for months when I started my current job but the anxiety of upkeeping it made me stop.

SJDHFKJDH like i know the point is just to keep yourself organized and there's no shame in not getting shit done

but i'd get to a new week and see all of the shit i hadn't done from yesterday and that i kept pushing to the next day and have a minor panic attack about it sdkjhfjk

I was just as satisfied putting a X for cancelled task or a > for moved task to new page, so long as all the boxes were filled in

and that's why it takes me 13 years to write an app. "I made an incremental amount of progress, good job, me!!"

lol yes it was the number of > tasks that was causing me anxiety

i mean, this was years ago in a very bad time in my life, so maybe i'd do better if i did a bullet journal now idk. i do have a pen and paper todo list system at work it's just not as organized as a bullet journal

idk if y’all have tried this but i highly recommend setting a lot of itty bitty bite sizes goals for yourselves so you can check off like 20 things? i do it in one of two ways:

activity method: break down everything into chunks - shower (wash hair) - dress (remember tie) - leave for work no later than 5:40 - make shopping list (see below) - go to store - etc

time method: for when you gotta be self motivated, lol. schedule smthng for every minute of the day in small intervals like - 10:10 to 10:25 read two pages textbook - 10:25 to 10:30 fifteen jumping jacks - 10:30 to 10:45 check email and shitpost - etc

At my old job, I did a very very basic one I guess, that was almost entirely just a to do list + running notes of stuff I needed to complete those tasks, and it helped me a lot. I don't at this new job, because I just do the same tasks all the time so they're never actually done (upload new youtube videos, don't do a murder, respond to reviews...)

I guess the other thing was that I realized there wasn't a lot of stuff I actually wanted to track in my regular life? I don't plan meals ahead of time, I don't have any interest in a mood tracker, I didn't care about keeping a list of ~wishes~ or ~goals~, etc.

how about instead of a daily mood tracker you track how batshit Sheila was on this particular day
