OOC CHATTER POST #14

Welcome to the new home of the OOC chatter post, in our brand new community dedicated to all of your OOC shitposting needs! We're going to start off very rules and moderation lite and see how things go.

1) You can post and comment here with any journal you own, i.e. CDJs, character journals from any game, etc. You don't need to join the comm in order to comment, but you can if you want.

2) We will do our best to continue putting up new chatter posts here whenever the old ones get close to filling up.

3) If for whatever reason, you'd like to make a new post in campers, you can!

And also: Please put a subject line in your comments to help people sort through conversations!

Yeah, it made SO much more sense to me than trying to follow patterns. I still do better when patterns include the visual thing like this too.

But yeah, also, I follow crochet patterns like I follow recipes, which is to say I follow the basic outline but then just make up like half of it.

Yeah, specially some of the weirder stitch things it's so much easier to see them in motion! When I was crocheting it was almost exclusively amigurumi and I made some, uh, nerdy things (.....transformers) so there was a lot of weird screwing around going on, but yeah!!! Patterns and recipes were meant to be played with right??

Aaahhh CUTE! I've made a feeewww amigurumis but my stitches tend towards too loose so they're hard for me and I rarely do anything that isn't super simple. Trent wanted me to do a Gundam something for him and I'm like... I love you, but not that much. :|

Yeah they're an adventure?? I'll have to find pics after work to show you, I crocheted a little telescope body hahaha

Yeah I found this pattern, but I don't really like it much, it looks like it's wearing a diaper. Then I thought I'd try to make him a Gundam hat, because I make a lot of hats, but all I could find was this one, which I also don't like (it looks like she has a tomato on her forehead?).

Alternately, you're friends with me on Instagram, right? Because literally all I post to instagram is my dog and shit I crochet. Solid content.

RIGHT? They're bad, and I'm not smart enough to make my own not bad pattern.

Guhhh I should do this. I learned knitting and crocheting visually originally from family and then went to books and stopped making any actual skill progress and eventually gave up.

People keep asking me to teach them to crochet and I'm like, look, it's not that I would MIND teaching you, it's just that I am a bad teacher and there are people on youtube who do a great job? And you can rewatch the same part of the video multiple times and slow the speed? So do that?

I would watch like three minutes of a video and then go OK I GOT THIS and just wander my way through from there. That's why that Tonks I made you looks like a monster.

I mean, yeah, that's what I do now. ALSO I LOVE TONKS. She lives on my bookshelf where the dog can't eat her.
